SAP-Enabled Collaborative Production Planning and Procurement Synchronization for Supply Chain Risk Management

Abstract

Supply chain risk management increasingly depends on the ability of organizations to coordinate production planning, procurement decisions, and network-level resilience under changing operational conditions. This research develops a conceptual SAP-Enabled Collaborative Production Planning and Procurement Synchronization for Supply Chain Risk Management framework that integrates production requirements, procurement responses, dependency relationships, and disruption-oriented decision logic within an enterprise resource planning environment. The study adopts a conceptual research methodology based exclusively on the supplied literature, particularly research on connectivity, neighbor connectivity, hierarchical networks, and network vulnerability. Although the provided references do not directly examine SAP or enterprise procurement, they provide a useful theoretical foundation for understanding how structural dependencies influence resilience when network components or relationships become unavailable. The proposed framework translates these principles into a production-procurement context by treating production requirements, material availability, suppliers, procurement activities, and operational resources as interconnected decision nodes. The resulting model emphasizes synchronized planning, dependency visibility, disruption assessment, alternative procurement, and iterative replanning. The analysis indicates that collaborative synchronization can reduce the propagation of local disruptions into broader production failures by improving visibility of critical dependencies and enabling coordinated responses. The study contributes a conceptual bridge between network-connectivity theory and SAP-enabled supply chain coordination while identifying limitations associated with static structural assumptions, data quality, and the absence of empirical SAP implementation evidence.
