Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a lentivirus that infects domestic cats and other feline species, leading to an immunodeficiency syndrome similar to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in humans. The management and treatment of FIV are essential to improve the quality of life and longevity of infected cats. Antiviral drugs have been investigated as potential treatment options for FIV, aiming to inhibit viral replication and disease progression. This study aims to assess the efficacy of antiviral drugs against FIV through in vitro and in vivo experiments. In vitro studies involved testing the antiviral activity of various drugs against FIV-infected feline cell cultures. In vivo evaluations were performed using FIV-infected cats, administering the selected antiviral drugs and monitoring viral load, clinical symptoms, and immunological parameters. The results offer critical insights into the effectiveness of different antiviral drugs and their potential for managing FIV in domestic cats.

Feline Parvovirus (FPV) poses a significant threat to feline populations, leading to severe gastroenteritis and often fatal outcomes, particularly in young cats. Timely and accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective management and containment. In this clinical study, we employed a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method for the rapid detection of FPV in suspected cats. A total of XX cats displaying clinical symptoms consistent with FPV infection were included in the study. Fecal samples were collected, and PCR analysis was performed targeting the FPV genome. The results revealed the presence or absence of FPV in suspected cases, enabling prompt intervention and preventing potential outbreaks. This study highlights the efficiency of PCR as a diagnostic tool for rapid and reliable FPV detection, facilitating early treatment and containment measures.

This study investigates the effects of transportation and pre-slaughter handling practices on the welfare and meat quality of cattle in the context of Kumasi Abattoir, Ghana. The journey from farm to slaughterhouse can be a critical period for cattle, impacting their well-being and the quality of meat produced. Through a comprehensive assessment of cattle welfare indicators, including stress levels, injuries, and behavioral responses, as well as meat quality attributes such as tenderness and freshness, this research provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities for improving the overall process of cattle handling and slaughter in the Ghanaian context.

This study investigates renal health in a rat model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) by assessing renal histopathology and analyzing blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine levels. UUO is a well-established model for studying obstructive nephropathy and provides insights into renal function and structural changes. Rats with surgically induced UUO were compared to control rats. Renal histopathology revealed significant alterations, including interstitial fibrosis and tubular damage, in the UUO group. Biochemical analysis showed a marked increase in BUN and creatinine levels, indicating impaired renal function. These findings underscore the importance of UUO as a model for renal research and highlight the utility of histopathological and biochemical assessments in understanding renal health.
